For Genie to work effectively, all users need to have full Read / Write permissions on the Genie application, as well as everything within the Genie folder. If users don't have the appropriate permissions set, you may find Genie throwing errors at you during normal processes such as scanning or locating images. The following article outlines the ideal Read / Write permissions for the Genie application.
Before you begin
Genie Support is unable to make changes to your computer Permissions, so if you're unsure about making these changes yourself you may need to enlist the help of your IT.
If you are still receiving errors that you expect to be related to Permissions, but have confirmed that all users have Read / Write access, you may want to look into your Anti-Virus, Fire Walls or File Vault. Again, this is something that may be best handled by your IT if you do not feel comfortable making changes yourself.
To set permissions for Genie on a Mac, first locate the Genie application within the Genie folder. The default location for the Genie folder is in your Applications: Genie.
Right click on the Genie application and select Get Info. In this new window, open the Sharing & Permissions section. To make changes to user permissions, click on the Privilege option next to the relevant user, then select the appropriate option. To ensure that Genie can run effectively, the suggested permissions would be Read & Write.
To set permissions for Genie on a Windows, first locate the Genie application within the Genie folder. The default location for the Genie folder is in your Local Disk C:\Genie.
Right click on the Genie application and select Properties. In this new window, open the Security tab. To make changes to user permissions, select Edit, and then tick the appropriate options. To ensure that Genie can run effectively, the suggested Permissions would be Full Control.
