Genie recognises how important it is to know which providers send you the most referrals. This may help with reciprocal referrals, running a Promotional Campaign, or simply being able to show them your appreciation at Christmas time. Genie makes it easy to keep track of this with the Referrals Reports under File > Maintenance & Reports > Practice Analysis.
Before you begin
When building the referrals reports, Genie will look at the referral information listed in your patient demographics. As such, it is important that referrals for your patients are recorded accurately so to ensure the reliability of your referrals reports.
When selecting each type of Referral Report, you will be prompted with a settings window, which will allow you to set a date range for the report, as well whether the report is for a single provider or all providers in the practice. Genie will then present you with your report.
Referral Report
To run the Referral Report, simply select the Referrals Report icon under the Practice Analysis tab of Maintenance and Reports. Once you have set the appropriate settings, select OK. The below window will then appear, displaying the referrals for the date range:
Referral Value Report
The Referral Value report looks at the monetary value of your received referrals and can be accessed by Alt + clicking the Referrals Report button. Once you have set the appropriate settings you will be presented with the below window:
The dollar values in this window (Total Fees and Total Paid) are generated based on invoices in your selected date range where the Referring Doctor is listed as the referrer in your Referral Value Report.
Referral Source Report
The Referral Source Report shows you the patients who have a referral source listed in their demographics and have been invoiced in the selected time period. While a patient will only be counted in the Patient column once, the total fees will reflect the combined invoice total for that patient for the given period. This report can be accessed by Shift + clicking on the Referrals Report button. Like the other reports you will first be prompted with the settings window. Upon clicking OK the below will appear:
The Buttons and Other Features
Depending on the report you run, you will have the option to utilise some of the below buttons:

Printing the Patient List and Address Book Records
To print a list of patients that have been referred by the doctors in the resulting Referral Report or a list of the providing doctors, you will first need to have these results appear in the appropriate window. To bring these results up, please use the appropriate option below:
Patients: To print a list of the patients that have been referred by the doctors in the resulting Referral Report, you will first need to select the Patients button at the top of the screen. This will show the patients for your selected provider. You can highlight more than one provider at once and then choose the Patient button.
Address Book: To print a list of the providers that have referred patients in the Referral Report, you will first need to select the Address Book button at the top of the screen. This will show the Address Book record for your selected provider. You can highlight more than one provider at once and then choose the Address Book button.
Once you have the Patient List or Address Book records up showing the referred patients or referring doctors, select the Printer icon . You will be presented with either the Report Builder window or the Select a Template window. If you receive the Select a Template window, either choose an existing template you have for this report, or choose any if one in particular isn't appropriate. This will then take you to the Report Builder window.
Select the Columns tab and drag across any fields you wish to include in the report from Database Fields to Report Columns. You can then use the Groups, Formats, Styles and Layouts tabs to change the appearance of the report.
When you are happy with your report settings, select either Export, Preview or Print.
