Install HIC Online on the server for the Genie v10 upgrade

During the upgrade to Genie v10, your PSI store - where all your online certificates are stored, will be replaced with a new Certificate Manager. To ensure that your certificates are extracted and reimported to the new Certificate Manager, you will need to install HIC Online on your server machine using the steps below for your relevant operating system.

Windows server

  1. On the server machine, quit Genie Server (File > Quit) or stop the service.
  2. Open Genie Solo (Single User) and log in as normal.
  3. Navigate to Special > Software Updates > Miscellaneous.
  4. Tick the box on the left of the HIC Online row and click Install 1 Item, then choose to "Just Download It" when prompted and save the installer on your server machine.
  5. Once the download has completed, close Genie Solo and launch the HIC Online Installer file.

  6. Click Next, then select the folder location to install HIC Online. This will default to the Genie folder and should be left in this location. Click Next to start installing HIC Online.

This will also install a version of Java that is compatible with the HIC Online software. If you already have another version of Java installed on your server machine, you may receive a prompt asking for this Java version to be uninstalled prior to installing HIC Online.

  1. Once the install has finished, relaunch Genie Solo once again to ensure the relevant PSI files are created on the server.
  2. Once Genie Solo has launched, you can then quit the application and launch Genie Server.

Mac server

  1. On the server machine, quit Genie Server (Genie Server > Quit Genie Server).
  2. Open Genie Solo (Genie) and log in as normal.
  3. Navigate to Special > Software Updates > Miscellaneous.
  4. Tick the box on the left of the HIC Online row and click Install 1 Item, then choose to "Just Download It" when prompted and save the installer on your server machine.
  5. Once the download has completed, close Genie Solo and launch the HIC Online Installer file.
  6. Click Next, then select the folder location to install HIC Online. This will default to the Genie folder and should be left in this location. Click Next to start installing HIC Online.
  7. Once the installer has finished, relaunch Genie Solo.

You may be presented with an error letting you know that Legacy Java is required. Select More Info on this prompt and you will be directed to the Legacy Java page. From here you can download the appropriate version of Java.

  1. After you have successfully launched Genie Solo, you can then quit the application and launch Genie Server.
