As of 30 May 2022 Google will no longer support the use of third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Google Account using only your username and password. This means that Gmail accounts will no longer work with Genie unless you enable 2-Step Verification and generate an App Password to be entered in Genie. Please refer to this Google support article for further information.
The email module is a legacy component of Genie and is not up to date with modern email protocols. Genie does not support email accounts that use SSL or TSL encryption, or OAuth for logging into accounts. If your chosen email host uses these methods of encryption or authentication, emails cannot be sent or received through Genie unless this is disabled. The email account you select will need to be POP3 compatible - IMAP or Microsoft Exchange accounts are not supported.
We cannot guarantee that a particular email account will work in Genie or that it will work indefinitely, nor are we able to assist with the configuration of email settings outside of Genie.
To set up your email account settings, navigate to Open > Email and click the Preferences option in the top menu bar. For further configuration guidance please see our Configuring the Email Module article.

* If your email account is configured to use 2-Step-Verification to allow you log on (generally by phone), you may need to create an App Password for the email account you wish to use which should be entered instead of your normal password.
