When you upgrade to Genie v9.4.6, you will need to perform an Online Patient Verification (OPV) before you attempt to access any other Medicare Online functionality (e.g. bulk bill / ECLIPSE / patient claim transmissions). This step is vital to ensure your practice is connected to the Medicare Web Services system.
Upon logging into Genie after upgrading to the latest version, you will receive the below prompt.
Click Verify Now and you will be taken to the below window to perform an Online Patient Verification. You can either search for a patient in your database, or manually enter details (either for a patient or yourself) into the relevant fields.
Once you have filled in all the details (either by search or manually entering), click Verify.
If verification is successful you will now be connected to Medicare Web Services and can continue to claim as normal.
If you have clicked Remind Me Next Login, you will receive a further alert advising you that you will not be able to access Medicare functionality until an OPV is performed.
If you click I Understand to this alert, you can connect your practice to MWS at any time by navigating to File > Activate Medicare Web Services and performing an OPV in the subsequent window.
My practice doesn't use Medicare Online functionality
If your practice does not utilise any Medicare Online features (i.e. you do not claim electronically for patients) but you are still receiving this message upon logging in, you can disable the message by Alt / Option + clicking on the Remind Me Next Login button.
If you have done this by mistake, please navigate to File > Activate Medicare Web Services to connect your practice with MWS.
