You can quickly configure Genie to send automated SMS reminders to your patients for their upcoming appointments using the steps below.
Navigate to Appts > SMS Reminders > Setup from within the appointment book.
|Limit each SMS to "X Credits"||Limit your SMS reminders to 1, 2, 3 credits, or choose to have unlimited credits for your reminders.
See our credit limits article for more information.
|Send a task to "ZZZ" when credits drop below "XXX"||Ensure you never run out of credits at the wrong time.
See our low credit warning article for more information.
|Each of your billing providers will appear in this list using the Default reminder template. You can edit the existing default template, or create your own template for each provider to best suit your practice.|
|Send Reminders For:
||Often patients who are having procedures do not require a reminder text message, so you may only wish to send SMS reminders for consultation appointments.|
|Check for replies every hour||Genie will check the SMS servers for replies every hour. If replies have been received they will show within the Confirmed column.|
|Do not send an Appointment reminder if anything has been entered into the Confirmed column||If you have manually entered text into the Confirmed column of an appointment, Genie will ignore this appointment when sending reminders for that calendar day.|
|Send SMS for patient's subsequent appointments on same day||If you potentially have patients with more than 1 appointment on a single day, you may wish to send them two (or more) reminders, one for each appointment.|
|Automatically send SMS Messages from this computer||Automatic SMS reminders must be configured to send from a specific machine. This can be any machine at the practice that has a Genie instance installed, however, it is imperative that Genie is running on that computer at the specified time your reminders are set to go out.
We recommend that reminders are configured to send from the Genie Server machine.
|Choose when reminders are sent
||You will need to decide how many days before the appointment you wish the reminder to be sent to the patient. Choose "the whole day's messages" and Genie will automatically assign a random time between normal business hours to send the message to ensure that reminders are not sent at the same time as other clinics.
If the time allocated here is not suitable, place your cursor in the time field and manually change this (we suggest choosing a time that is not exactly on the hour).
|Send Monday's Messages||If you have your reminders set to send one day before from a Genie Client machine, it is important to keep in mind that this computer may be shut down over the weekend, meaning Monday's reminder messages will not be sent on Sunday (1 day before).|
