Recent versions of Genie include a cloud adapter to enable Advanced Extras functionality such as Online Patient Registration and Patient Payments powered by Ezidebit. In upcoming Genie versions, this cloud adapter will also be used for Medicare Webservices.
The cloud adapter uses two security keys to identify a practice and enable communication with our servers. If you're currently running Genie v9.3.5 or above, it is highly recommended that you copy these keys to a safe place prior to updating to Genie v9.4.4. These keys can be found in the following location on the server machine:
- Windows: Genie\Server\Server Database
- Mac: Genie\Server\Contents\Server Database
Close the Genie Server application, then copy the cert.pem and key.pem files within the above directory. Paste these to another folder on your computer (not within the Genie folder), then simply copy and paste these two certificates back into the above directory once you have completed the update to Genie v9.4.4.
What if I didn't do this step before updating?
If you did not take a copy of these keys prior to updating to Genie 9.4.4 and you are having trouble using the Advanced Extras functionality after updating, please submit a request to Genie support.
