Manage your dictation vocabulary

To improve the accuracy of your dictation and save you time, you can add words and acronyms to your vocabulary in Dragon Medical One (DMO). You can train Dragon to understand certain words based on your pronunciation, which is useful if DMO misrecognises medications, doctors names, or places.

Add custom words

1. Say "Manage vocabulary" or navigate to > Manage Vocabulary...
2. Click the plus sign at the top;
3. Type the correct spelling in the box, then choose one of the following:
   1. Use Default Pronunciation
   2. Speak the word (using the microphone icon)
   3. Spell the spoken form of the word

Add medical acronyms

You can also train Dragon to spell out long forms of words when dictating acronyms.

1. Say "Manage vocabulary" or navigate to > Manage Vocabulary...
2. Click the plus sign at the top;
3. Enter the entire long form in the field available.
4. Click the microphone icon and pronounce the acronym or short form. If you receive an alert that the long form and pronunciation differ too much, enter the pronunciation of the spoken form (acronym) in the available field.
