Navigate to Special > Software Updates to download MIMS Prescribing Data and / or MIMS Annual. MIMS release a new version of their drug database monthly so we recommend performing these steps at the beginning of each month.
Before you begin
You must have an active MIMS Integrated subscription to download MIMS in Genie. Visit the MIMS website or phone MIMS on 1800 800 629 to subscribe. MIMS will then contact us so that we can activate you in our system.
Ensure no users at the practice will be prescribing while you are updating MIMS Prescribing Data.
Download MIMS Prescribing Data
- Under the Miscellaneous tab, tick the MIMS Prescribing Data option.
- Click Install 1 item in the bottom-right.
- Choose to Apply Now or Store and Activate Later.
If you chose to apply the update now, wait for the update to complete (this may take some time) and you will then be able to prescribe using the latest MIMS data. If you chose to store and activate later, you can access and download this file at any time through File > Maintenance & Reports > Monthly > Stored Updates.
Download MIMS Annual
It is not necessary to download MIMS Annual unless you are working in remote environments with an unstable internet connection. Otherwise we recommend accessing MIMS Annual using our web server by navigating to File > User Preferences > Clinical and ticking Access MIMS Annual via the Internet.
If you do wish to download MIMS Annual, you must perform the install on the computer where you are requiring MIMS Annual access. This will download the MIMS Annual files into your root Genie folder (e.g. C:\Genie\MIMS Annual OR Applications:Genie:MIMS Annual). If you have downloaded MIMS Annual before, you should delete the MIMS Annual folder on your computer before applying this update to ensure that all factsheets are updated as per the latest version of MIMS.
