If you are using My Health Record (MHR) in Genie via the CSP (Contracted Service Provider) method, you can view a patient's MHR by connecting to the HIPS (Health Identifier and PCEHR System) portal through Genie.
Before you begin
You must have completed the registration and activation steps to have My Health Record communicating with your Genie software. The functionality described in this article is relevant for users who access MHR through the CSP method only.
If you have not done this, navigate to our Getting started with My Health Record article to set up your practice.
Accessing a patient's My Health Record
Within a patient's clinical file, click on the My Health Record icon at the top of the window. This will perform a check to ensure the patient has an IHI in their demographics. See Retrieving a patient's IHI from My Health Record for steps on how to add a patient's IHI.
Genie will open an external web page in your default browser to the HIPS portal, where you will see a Health Record Overview of the patient as below.
If the patient has restricted access to their My Health Record, you will be presented with the following page and will need to obtain an access code from the patient. Alternatively, you can request emergency access to the patient's MHR if clinically necessary.
Viewing documents in a patient's My Health Record
To view any of the documents within the patient's MHR, click on the View Document icon on the right of the document.
Within the below page that loads, click on the Attached Content hyperlink to view the document.
