If your practice is configured to access My Health Record (either via the CSP [Contracted Service Provider] method or via a NASH certificate), then you are able to retrieve a patient's IHI (Individual Healthcare Identifier) from the My Health Record system directly in Genie.
Before you begin
You must have completed the registration and activation steps to have My Health Record communicating with your Genie software. This functionality is available for users who access My Health Record either via the CSP (Contracted Service Provider) method, or the NASH certificate method.
If you have not done this, navigate to our Getting started with My Health Record article to set up your practice.
Retrieving an IHI
Navigate to a patient's demographics window (either a new or existing patient).
To accurately retrieve a patient's IHI, the following information will need to be filled out correctly.
- First Name
- Surname
- DOB
- Gender
- Medicare Number or DVA Number
On the left-hand side of the demographics, you will see fields for the IHI No, IHI Record Status, and IHI Status.
Please note: Users on Genie v9.3.9 and below will only have an IHI No field.
Click the button to retrieve the IHI from the My Health Record system. You will see progress bars appear while Genie validates the search.
If the validation comes back successful, the IHI No, IHI Record Status, and IHI Status fields will be filled out automatically.
If you have retrieved a patient's IHI but they do not wish their letters to be uploaded to My Health Record, tick the Do not send letters to MHR checkbox.
