Once you've registered as an individual with Provider Digital Access (PRODA), you will need to link your account to your practice's organisation. This is done by firstly registering an HPI-O (Healthcare Provider Identifier - Organisation) for your practice, then linking your individual PRODA account to your HPI-O.
Your practice may already have a registered HPI-O, which means all you will need to do is ensure your individual PRODA account is linked to the organisation.
The steps below go through each step accordingly, however, if you are confident that your individual PRODA account is already linked to your organisation, you can navigate through to the next step.
Who does this step?
Your seed organisation must be registered by the Responsible Officer (RO) of the organisation. The RO has primary responsibility for the organisation's compliance with participation requirements in the MHR system. The RO should be the person who is responsible for the organisation such as the owner or CEO, or someone who has been given authority to act on behalf of the organisation.
Prerequisites
Evidence of authority
The RO will need to provide evidence of their authority to act on behalf of the organisation, unless their PRODA account details match the details of the Public Officer for the organisation on the Australian Business Register (ABR).
If the organisation is a trust or uses a trading name, evidence will be required.
My Health Record policies
In order to use My Health Record, your organisation will need to create an Access and Use Policy prior to registration. It is a legislative requirement that a My Health Record Security and Access Policy be implemented.
Template policies have been created by peak bodies and can be accessed using the below links. Alternatively, you can create your own policy using these government resources. The policies should be accessible to all staff using MHR and should be reviewed and updated regularly.
Registering your practice for an HPI-O
- Login to PRODA;
- In your Available services, click on the HPOS tile;
- Select My Programs, then choose Healthcare Identifiers and My Health Record;
- Select Healthcare Identifiers - Register seed organisation;
- Follow the steps in the online form to register your seed organisation.
Please note that the process of registering your seed organisation may take some time to go through and be processed by the appropriate departments. Once completed, the RO will be notified when the registration has been accepted.
