With the release of Genie version 9.3.6, we have laid the ground work within our desktop software to assist you in delivering the best possible care to your patients, while allowing us to improve the quality and breadth of support that we provide to you and your practice.
In Genie v9.3.6 and above, your practice will be automatically connected to our new Genie Cloud Platform when you enable any of our Advanced Extras products. Once you update your practice management software to the latest version, you can easily access features such as our upcoming mobile app, and take advantage of our exciting suite of Advanced Extras which currently include:
- Online Patient Registration
- Specialist Bookings powered by HotDoc
- Patient Payments powered by EziDebit
Below are a few questions you may have about this update and what it could mean for your practice data.
|What data will be synced?||The specific data being synced at this current point in time is listed below, however, please note it is expected that this will increase over time as we broaden the range of our cloud functionality.
|When/how is the data synced?||An initial historical data sync is performed at the time of updating to v9.3.6 or above. This is done through a locally installed Cloud Adapter and is segmented to ensure it is not a large data load at once and to minimise any performance impacts.
After the historical data sync, data is automatically synced as it is created or updated.
|Where is my data stored?||Your data is stored in the cloud with Amazon Web Services at our Australian data centres.|
|What will my data be used for?||Your data will be used to access new functionality in our suite of Advanced Extras, as well as to improve our support and product offering.
|How do I know my data will be secure?||The Genie Cloud Platform is built on the same highly secure AWS infrastructure as our cloud-based product, Gentu. Penetration tests have been conducted (and will continue to be conducted on an ongoing basis), an independent review of the security architecture has been completed by AWS, and the platform is monitored consistently by our security operations team. All data remains within an Australian-based data centre, whose infrastructure is designed to adhere to security best practices.|
|What if I don't want my data to be synced to the cloud?||You can opt-out of syncing your data at any time, and we can also delete your data at any time upon request. This, however, is not recommended as it will limit your ability to access new functionality moving forward (including Medicare Web Services) as more products are built on our cloud platform.
