In Genie v9.3.6 and above, you will now be able to access a patient's demographic window at the same time that their clinical file is open, allowing administration staff to manage and change patient details even while the doctor is still working on their consult notes.
In previous versions of Genie (v9.3.5 and below), when attempting to access a patient's demographic window, you would receive a locked record alert to notify you if the clinical file was still in use.
This improvement in workflow has been made possible by a huge amount of background changes in Genie, which were implemented due to your customer feedback to our product team. This article will go through exactly what has changed, and what this could mean to your practice.
Before you begin
You will need to update to Genie v9.3.6 or above to utilise this enhanced workflow.
New database table
In order to "unlock" the patient demographic information while a clinical file was open, there were certain fields that needed to be moved in the background of Genie. Due to this, we have created a new database table titled "PatientClinical". The following fields, as of v9.3.6, have now been moved from [Patient] to [PatientClinical].

New fields in Letters, Custom Forms, Checklists
When you update your Genie software to v9.3.6, all fields in the list above will be switched over wherever they are mentioned in your letter templates, custom forms and checklists.
New fields in QuickReports
If you are running above Genie v9.0.5, your QuickReports will automatically be updated when you update your software. If you are running Genie v9.0.5 and below, all fields referenced above will need to be remapped when accessing your QuickReports. Genie will prompt you if this is necessary and you simply need to click 'Remap'.
