In Genie versions 9.3 and above, when sending letters out of Genie via a third party software (e.g. Healthlink, Medical Objects etc.) we have been made aware of an issue with PDF content not generating correctly in these letters when running Genie Server as a Service instead of an application. This is due to a known bug in 4D, the platform Genie is built on.
While there is an updated version of 4D available which resolves the issue, we are unable to upgrade the 4D version of Genie as we are not yet fully 64-bit compatible. Currently the workarounds for this issue are:
- To run the Genie Server as an application instead of a Service. The behaviour will not occur and outgoing letters will be sent with PDF content.
- Move the third party correspondence software responsible for sending your outgoing letters (e.g. Healthlink, Medical Objects etc.) to a Client machine on your network to allow the PDF generation to occur on that machine. This will need to be done in consultation with your IT support representative and the third party software you use to send letters.
