If you already have images saved to your computer that you would like to add to patient files, or if you are wanting to import straight from a digital camera, then this article is for you.
Before you begin
This article outlines attaching images to patient files from a digital camera or an existing source on your computer. If you are wanting to scan images into a patient file, please refer to the Scanning article for these instructions.
To attach images from a digital camera or a smartphone to a patient file, you will first need to open the ImagePro Control window after selecting your chosen patient. This can be done in two ways:
- Open the Image Browser window from the patients clinical window using the Image Browser button . Then select the Camera button .
- Open the ImagePro Control window using the Camera button in the Patients List.
Connect your camera or smartphone to your computer and turn it on. Genie should recognise your device in the drop down menu as below. If not, you may need to install the camera driver using a CD that came with your camera or ensure that your computer correctly recognises your phone as a camera.
Click on the Camera button and Genie will bring up a list of photos in the device's memory.
Ticking Hide Device GUI will prevent the camera software window from coming up, if desired.
Highlight the images you would like to attach to this patient. If you would like to select multiple images, Shift+click or Ctrl+click on the images you require. Click OK.
Genie will prompt you for a description for the image(s). For multiple images, Genie will name the images: name_1, name_2, name_3 etc. If you have Delete after download ticked then the images will be deleted from your camera after they have been successfully imported into the patient's Clinical Window. It is best to take photos in VGA or email mode to keep them at a reasonable size. The quality will still be adequate for viewing purposes, it is only if you are going to print the photo bigger than 6x4 that you need higher resolution. VGA/email will be a size setting on your camera itself.
Images can be attached to a patient's Clinical Window from a number of places within Genie.
Via Image Browser
Open the Image Browser window from the patient's Clinical Window using the Image Browser button .
Click the Blue Plus button at the top left of the Image Browser window.
This will open a Browse window allowing you to navigate to where the images are stored. Select the image you wish to attach and click OK.
Note: Images can only be attached one at a time.
These images will need to be named before attaching or renamed using the Rename button once attached.
