When navigating to a particular day in the Appointment Book, you may receive the following SVG Parser: Bad Format error:
This error generally indicates that there is an appointment on the specified day with a duration of 0, or a negative duration. It can also indicate a strange character such as an emoji located somewhere within the booking. This may be from a response to a confirmation SMS.
To Resolve:
To resolve this issue you will need to identify which appointment is causing the error. To do this, you will need to search the [Appt] table for that day to check for any appointment(s) with a duration of 0 or a negative duration.
- Navigate to File > QuickReports
- Highlight the [Appt] table and then click Query
- Expand the [Appt] table and locate the StartDate field
- Select 'is equal to' on the right-hand side of the window, and enter the date of the problem appointment in the Value field
- Click Query
- Navigate to the Columns tab of the Report Builder
- Double-click on the following fields: ApptDuration, Name, StartTime, SMSReply, Note
- Choose to print the report to PDF. If any problem appointments are identified they will be listed in the printed report. This can then be sent to Genie Support to analyse
Alternative Solutions
The options below may provide a workaround to view your Appointment Book without receiving the error, however they will not resolve the problem. These may be helpful to simply navigate through your Appointment Book to review your bookings.
Printing the Appointment Book
If you're receiving this error when navigating the appointment book, Genie will also have trouble printing the particular day that's causing the issue. If you need to print the appointment book but are receiving this error, you can hold the Alt/Option key on your keyboard when clicking the printer icon . This will prompt Genie to print the appointment book as an image file instead of a print job; once this image file is created, you can print it as you would any other picture.
The Confirmed Column
Hiding the confirmed column in your Appointment Book may also allow you to view this day without receiving the error. This might indicate that there is a strange character such as an emoji that has been included in a received confirmation SMS from a patient.
To hide the Confirmed column navigate to Appts > Appointment Preferences and select the Appearance tab. Under Appearance select Modify Columns and you will be presented with a list of columns available to include. Under the Visible column, deselect Confirmed and choose Save. Save out of the Appointment Preferences window and attempt to view your day again.
Simplified View
Viewing the Appointment Book in Simplified View may allow you to see your problem day without receiving the error. To do this, open your Appointment Book on any accessible day and select the Simplified View option from the icons on the left of your screen.
If the above options provide no solution, please contact Genie Support who will be happy to investigate this issue further for you.
