Online registration forms: Have just signed up and tried it on a test patient.
    First impressions and feedback.

It is not clear what minimum data set you need to enter to get a link formed, or is it just a time delay? If that could be fleshed out.

The patient has to sign up for an account, they are not warned about this, nor is it clear that this is to the Genie online portal or for our practice and where that is being stored.

Password requirements you are not forewarned until you start typing and have to think of a new one.

    Contact title: No doctor option

Phone number: must have area code, it doesn't tell you this, but if you don't enter it you cannot add it later and must start again overwriting the phone number you typed (not the same for pharmacy page which allows you to add the area code later).

Emergency contact:It might be helpful to have relationship to patient listed.

    Telehealth:
Makes a mandatory Skype address. We do not use Skype nor does Genie it uses Amazon Chimes, who would ever suggest someone would need to have a Skype account? At least it accepted me writing "I hate skype" as my Skype address!

Pharmacy mandatory name and phone and street suburb address
Pharmacy phone you should notify "must include area code"
Post code is mandatory yet will self populate, yet seeing the postcode asterix may put people off if they know the suburb but not the postcode. I note many pharmacies are named with a suburb but are in a different suburb.
Golden Grove Chemplus is in Wynn Vale
Mitcham National Pharmacy is in Torrens Park
Priceline Munno Para is in Smithfield
    and so on

The Health fund did not populate but put it in the Notes section at least

The process created an account holder, and this this may be wrong for families/Children.

    https://production-patient-portal-admin.genie-platform-production.com/patient_forms

Coming back to the link from Genie after having registered and entered data if I now click on the Advanced Extras icon in the Genie appointment book it opens to a page saying:

    Error

Encountered an error while loading the patient forms report. Please try again.

and it is not intuitive to click the cogwheel which then takes you to:

    https://production-patient-portal-admin.genie-platform-production.com/practice_preferences

which are the preferences you have saved. Needs a bit more work to finesse it.

I had my university student receptionist click a registration link to try it and he thought it looked like a phishing scam as the "Secure Health" has nothing to really identify who you are entering the DOB field for, but if you click the I agree to the terms and conditions link you get some branding exposure. I suspect you need to brand that first page a bit better with the Genie logo and some explanation of what to expect, but I see this is probably a generic 3rd party domain so the warning may need to come from us as a practice when we text or email the link.

    2 other things noted:

Having switched on Online patient registration

    1. The email is populated with "unknown@email.com" this just seems utterly useless and worse than useless, I suggest you just get rid of it altogether. The email database will have a lot of useless meaningless unnecessary duplicate emails.

    2. An automatic account holder is created. We had a baby the receptionist added, newly born, no name as yet, so called (as we do) Baby of X [firstname of mother] Y[surname of mother]. Account holder automatically created is Baby of X Y. Again a useless addition, as the account holder ultimately will be X Y but now we have populated our account holder database with a lot of useless account holders, and if it is a 2nd or 3rd baby then we likely already have the account holder.

Account Holder address deletion. Not sure if this is a bug, only happening since online registration enabled, but I have noted this morning that every new account holder I create has the address stripped out leaving only name DOB, Medicare & mobile, the address is gone (method: create patient, verify medicare, click self for account holder generation), when re-opening the address is gone, even though it stays in the patient, just missing for the account holder, and can be updated/re-added via the update family button if deleting and reentering 1 character in the patient address.

For the moment I have disabled online patient registration to see if this behaviour goes away.

    Update.

Having disabled online patient registration, the deletion of the account holder address (which I think is an overwriting of the existing account holder), is no longer happening with the creation of new patient account holders.

Just signed up and trialed test patient. All worked fine but I thought there was going to be an option to email if patient doesn't have mobile number or doesn't wish to complete registration on phone. Is this available?

Hi Donna Marcy, thank you for your comment. The way Online Patient Registration forms are currently configured, you are only able to send an SMS, not an email, from within the Advanced Extras window. You do, however, still have the ability to send an email to the patient, it's just a slightly more manual process. Within the new patient's demographics after you have initially saved the record, you will find a Registration Link in the Memo field that you can copy and paste into an email directly to the patient. The registration link will look like this: Registration Link: https://gensol.link/xxxxxxxx.

If you choose to send emails to your patients I would recommend setting the patient registration forms to send manually so that they are not receiving an SMS and an email to complete the form. I would love to submit feedback to our product team on your behalf to include the option to email directly from within the Advanced Extras window in the future.

Just another observation, it would be a lot more user friendly if there was a way to send the link to a new patient who already has a file created. A lot of the time we create a file when a referral is sent through and then we call the patient to book an appointment. The system at present doesn't allow for us to send the link to these patients, only patients we are creating at the time of booking an appointment. Worth considering if you are making any improvements down the track.

    Suggested improvements:

    1. ability to delete  patient from "Forms not sent" when patient is entered by mistake, or if they are added due to import of pathology results and there is no appointment made. Currently they are just sitting in this section and we can't delete them.

2 ability to delete people from "forms not completed" when a patient cancels appointment or cannot do an online registration, again, we have a long list in that folder and we can't get rid of it.

    3. ability to sort by "date completed" so that we can see who has recently completed their registration.  Once our patients register, we then send them instructions and a health questionnaire by email which we are unable to do with the online registration.

Definitely need to be able to have type of contact, or instead of emergency contact, have a partner - especially essential for obstetrics
