With our release of Genie version 9.3.3 our customers will see the first of the preview areas of Genie converted to a true preview format and a move away from the old word processor type preview that has previously been utilised in the application. This change will see the full space of the preview area fully optimised in a true read only format. We hope to make this change to more of the preview areas as we look at modernising Genie and updating our code base so would love to know what you think.
Just because there isn’t a toolbar doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of functions you're familiar with such as printing. As always you can still print results by right-clicking on the result in the contact list and select “Print as Text” or “Print from Browser”. You can also customise your preview by using the big A button to enlarge, or the small a button for a smaller preview.
How are you receiving results?
While we’re updating and modernising our systems, please note that if you’re receiving results from your radiology and pathology labs in older, legacy formats, such as RTF, you may experience some slowness whilst these files are rendered. This is due to the fact that these older styles of formatting require a special processing tool to render the older format in the more modern interface. We've tried to minimise the latency of this process as much as we can but we wanted to let you know in advance that you may be affected if you are still receiving result files in these older formats.
Labs can often deliver a variety of result formats, and we recommend that you speak to your chosen lab about other options such as PDF or HTML which won't be affected by these speed issues.
