We are aware of an issue within Genie v9.3.X and above, wherein it is not possible to ‘Drop Users’ via the usual method in the Server Admin Window. This impacts the Users tab in both the Server Admin Window within your Genie Client application, as well as the Genie Server application itself.
If users are correctly logging out of Genie via File > Quit (Windows) or Genie Client > Quit (Mac), the User list on the Server should correctly reflect this. However, if you do identify that there are users who haven't logged out in this way, and you are unable to complete the 'quit' process via normal methods, please use the following workaround.
- On your Genie Client computer, navigate to File > Maintenance & Reports > Server Admin Window;
- Click on the Users tab at the top, then highlight the user you want to drop and click Watch Processes at the bottom of the window;
- This will take you to the Processes tab. Highlight all processes shown in this window with the correct Session name, then click Abort Process;
When will this be resolved?
This issue is not something our developers can currently overcome, as this requires us to update our platform to 4D v19, which we cannot do until we are fully 64-bit. Once we have released our 64-bit version of Genie, the Drop User functionality will be fixed.
