In relation to the Medicare Expiry Date, would it be possible for Genie to update this when it does the online verification? It does not seem to be needed for anything other than uploading to the My Health Record. One can still bulk bill without it or submit patient claims transmissions without it, and download the IHI without it. Short of viewing the Medicare card and entering it in the demographics, the only other way I am aware is to access it via PRODA, however that does ask you to declare you are accessing it for billing purposes, when if it is for the purpose of uploading to the My Health Record that is not strictly true.

Verification corrects first name spelling, DOB or Medicare Stem or Reference Number, I cannot see why it cannot include the Expiry date.

Interestingly, while Genie won't let you upload without the Expiry date entered, it does not seem to matter what date you put in. So if for example you just decide to enter 31/12/2022 then your upload will work! Online verification would be so much better. What is better falsify expiry or falsify declaration via PRODA?

Genie is touted as a Specialist software. For those of us non-procedural specialists, our main output of an interaction is our specialist letter. It is disappointing the option to upload this to the My Health Record is greyed out in Genie. My current work around is to select and copy the contents of my letter and paste  and enter it in the Event Summary field.

    Hi Dr Brian Conway

Regarding the specialist letters uploading to My Health Record, I can confirm we are currently in the process of improving the My Health Record experience as a whole which would include the functionality to upload Specialist Letters - this is shown within our Product Roadmap.

With the Medicare Expiry Date, I'm happy to take this feedback to our developers. I suspect that it won't be something we can do in the near future, however as part of the move to 64bit and to comply with Medicare changes we will be transitioning to Medicare Web Services before April 2022. With these changes we will be overhauling the Medicare Online processes so I imagine this will be something we could implement at that time.

If you have any further questions just let me know!

It would also be helpful to have a checkbox of some sort for those that have consented to have information uploaded to their My Health Record, so you can do it once the letter is later done and the patient no longer in front of you, and admin staff could do it or another member of the practice.

We had a meeting with the practice to discuss some aspects of adding to MyHealthRecord.

One clinician suggested having a function where adding MHR as a cc to a letter would then automatically upload the letter to the patient's MHR.

Is it possible for reception/admin staff to be able to upload correspondence to the My Health Record, or indeed upload anything?

It seems to interact with MHR you need to have an HPI-I

So would need to be registered with AHPRA

If so this would excluded reception staff, but also Speech Pathologists and Dietitians.

I am not sure if there is a delegation system, or do you need a practice nurse to do this?

See attached screen shot of reception user profile attempting to activate user for MHR.
