Last week, Genie Solutions decommissioned the web-based features of the Genie address book. In the days since the removal of this feature, feedback from our users has made it clear that we should have provided advance notice and more transparency around that decision.
For those not yet aware, we made the decision to remove the Web Address Book functionality from Genie with the release of version 9.0.6 (as per the release notes for this version). This was done to restrict the dissemination of provider data that may not have been authorised for distribution by the owners of that data. As 9.0.6 has now been available for some time, the next step was to decommission the legacy system that delivered this data, so that the functionality was consistent across all versions of Genie.
Going forward, our development team is currently investigating potential alternate solutions that will allow us to provide similar functionality in a more secure way. As we develop these features, we welcome any feedback you might have about how they should work. If you have any ideas for this functionality, or any considerations you think need to be made, we’d love to hear them. Head over to the Submit Feedback page on our website and submit your ideas via the web form to make your voice heard.
We do apologise for the lack of clarity around this change and we’re committed to learning from this experience moving forward.
