Fee schedules can be imported into Genie a few different ways. This article will step you through how to download fee schedules for Medicare, DVA, and common health funds from the Software Updates menu. We have separate articles on importing .csv fee schedules and using the increase fees function for derived funds.
Navigate to Fee Schedule Status article.to view all schedules currently available for download. To keep on top of what funds have updated schedules, we recommend following our
The schedules that appear in this list may be state-specific, so ensure you have the correct state entered in File > Practice Preferences.
Before you begin
It's important that while you are downloading fee schedules, nobody at the practice performs any billing or updates any billing items while the schedules are installing.
If you need to download multiple schedules at once, it's imperative that you download the Medicare schedule first, then download any health fund schedules after this to ensure any new items are pulled in by the MBS.
Download a fee schedule
- In the Software Updates menu, place a tick to the left of the fee schedule you would like to update;
While you can download multiple schedules at once, please note that this will increase the install time so you may want to perform this out of hours.
- Click the Install x item/s button in the bottom-right;
- Choose to either Apply Update or Store and Activate Later. Unless you have a specific reason to avoid updating now, click Apply Update;
- If you're updating the Medicare Schedule, you will be prompted to Update All or Update Current. We typically recommend selecting Update All to ensure that any new MBS items are pulled into Genie.
If you're updating a fund and receiving a "Which fund is x?" prompt, select the appropriate fund from the list. See our article on this prompt for further information.
Fee schedules that have finished downloading successfully will have a tick in the Done column on the right of the Software Updates menu.
