We know how busy your clinic days can get so we want to take some of the stress out of organising tasks for you. Using Genie’s Investigations Action List will allow you to effortlessly notify your reception and practice nurse staff on how to action reviewed results.
The Investigations Action List is a list of pathology results that have been marked as requiring further action. Reviewing what needs to be actioned in the Investigations Action List would normally be done once or twice per day. As each result is dealt with, it should be removed from the list. As new results are reviewed by the doctor they are added to the list, and as such we recommend keeping on top of them.
To open the Investigations Action List select Open > Investigations Action List and you will be presented with this window:
Before you begin
What actions users will be able to take regarding the result will depend on what clinical privileges they have set for them through File > Edit Groups. Please see the Edit Groups article for more information.
Any action to be taken will be noted in the Action column. The action will show in red if it is marked as Recall. It will show in green for all other actions and in black if no action is required.
- Double clicking on the result record will open the result for you to view.
- You can open the patient demographics from the Investigations Action List by selecting the result and choosing the Edit Patient icon. You may need to access this area to gain extra contact information other than what is shown in theInvestigations Action List window
- You can check if a patient has already had an appointment by selecting
- Selecting the button will allow you to view your calendar. Through this function you can book the patient in for their next appointment.
Once you have checked or made an appointment for the patient you can select where you will be prompted with a window where you can then input any further information such as when the patient was notified of the result. This will be saved with the result. Please note that Genie will not allow you to close the window without entering your initials.
Note: You can select multiple results at once by highlighting them with Shift+click, or simply selecting all results. You can then move through the above window quickly without having to click on the button or enter your initials for each result.
If you choose to contact your patient via mail or email, you can also create a merged letter from the Investigations Action List window by clicking the golden pages icon.
